The HomeFront Strong Storytelling Project—formerly the Veterans Storytelling Project at the Brookfield Institute—is a program that uses trained volunteers to help service members, veterans, and their family members (SMVF), share and record their stories. This is a proven method for reducing Post Traumatic Stress (PTS). It also helps family and friends understand their loved ones better.

At HomeFront Strong, our primary purpose is to create stronger relationships between SMVF and the broader community. Storytelling allows for the storyteller to feel heard, understood, and accepted, while the listener gains new insight and empathy for the storyteller. This process is key, not only for strengthening communication and connection within the veteran and military community, but also for conquering the military/civilian divide that exists in our country. It is essential that the sacrifices of our military and veteran families are acknowledged and remembered.
