Rudolph Yurkevicz, Hatfield, MA - Rudolph "Rudy" Yurkevicz, 91, a long-time resident of Hatfield, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Born in Sunderland, MA on April 15, 1932, to the late Michael and Anna (Shatynski) Yurkevicz, he attended Sunderland schools along with Smith Vocational. He later served in the U.S. Army and was rated first class as an expert rifleman. He was a hardworking man supporting his family of 6 with two jobs. He became a barber and built his own barbershop in the town of Sunderland where he grew up. He was also the head custodian at the University of MA for 32 years before his retirement in 1994. In 1960, he married his forever wife Stacia, and celebrated 63 years of marriage. Hatfield is where he called home and raised his family. He loved the outdoors and could see Mount Sugarloaf from his backyard. This is where he felt most at peace. Rudy, as he was known to everyone, liked to hunt and fish, garden, and watch war and western movies. He also loved his polish music and dancing.
