Mission
Veterans Mediation seeks to weave the language and process of creative problem solving into the fabric of the community by teaching mediation and conflict resolution skills and other forms of innovative dispute resolution.
Our Story
The Veterans Mediation project offers mediation and conflict resolution training within the context of working with veteran and military community members. This training is provided by highly skilled veterans and military-connected family members and designed to equip individuals with the mediation skills necessary to work effectively with veterans in resolving their difficulties in civilian life. Trainings are customized to address the needs of veterans and their families.
Veterans often face complex problems influenced by a continuum of contributing factors such as homelessness, broken families, unemployment, health care, etc. Mediation has the potential to address and solve these problems.
Veterans who serve veterans (Veterans Service Officers, Veterans Employment Representatives, and others) hold a unique place in the community as the first contact and main support for veterans and their families. Veterans in those positions are the particular focus of the Veterans Mediation training program.
Veterans Mediation, was created by Quabbin Mediation in 2007, and has trained hundreds of professionals working with veteran and military families throughout Massachusetts.
History
In May of 2007, Quabbin Mediation launched the Veterans Mediation program. Veterans understand the military experience and have the skills to provide mediation services to veterans, active military, National Guard and Reserves, and their families.
